Giuseppe was a very distant descendant of Silas. Giuseppe Salvatore: Giuseppe was Lillian's husband and the father of Damon, Stefan, and an unnamed sibling. This implies that Silas did have a sibling or siblings who continued the Salvatore bloodline since it is assumed that Silas did not had any children of his own before he became immortal. Silas' Unnamed Sibling(s): Silas said to Damon in True Lies that Damon was his distant nephew. After the collapse of the Other Side, Silas is sucked into Hell until it too is destroyed. Unfortunately, Silas died before he ever had a chance to destroy the Other Side as the Anchor was transferred to Bonnie Bennett. After being entombed for two thousand years, he was awakened and planed to destroy the Other Side, take the Cure, die and join Amara. When he refused she desiccated him with the Cure. After Qetsiyah discovered their betrayal claimed to have cured Amara and offered Silas the Cure. After becoming immortal, Nature found balance by creating mortal versions of herself-doppelgängers or shadow selves-that would appear century after century. However, Silas betrayed her and he and Amara drank the elixir. Silas manipulated and convinced Qetsiyah that he loved her and wanted to spend an eternity with her and as such she created the immortality spell. Silas was deeply and passionately in love with his true love and soulmate Amara, Qetsiyah's handmaiden. Before becoming an immortal, he was a very gifted and powerful witch. Silas was the world's very first immortal being and was the earliest known ancestor of the Salvatore family bloodline, as well as the progenitor of the Salvatore doppelgänger bloodline. Silas: Silas ( Ancient Greek: Σίλας, Modern Greek: Silouanos, Latin: Silvanus) was born sometime during 1st Century B.C.Instead of languishing on the Other Side as ghosts per William and Plec's original plan (Shakespearean in its tragic outcome), Stefan found peace, and Damon lives on thanks to Legacies' Easter eggs. Both Salvatore brothers still got to be heroes and save the people they loved. Stefan's mission throughout The Vampire Diaries was to mend their fractured relationship, earn Damon's forgiveness, and give back everything he took away. It was Stefan who forced Damon to become a vampire, which effectively turned him into a monster. If Elena had remained in the picture, the much-beloved Caroline-Klaus Mikaelson pairing might have gained more traction despite the character getting a spin-off set in New Orleans.Įven though Stefan's death devastated many fans, it brought the Salvatore brothers' story full circle. Stefan and Caroline Forbes fell in love, but their romance lacked the passion and angst that Stefan had with Elena. The Vampire Diaries strayed far from its roots in the two seasons following Nina Dobrev's departure. Season 8 had both Salvatore brothers facing the repercussions of their violent pasts by introducing the character of Cade, aka "the Devil." The themes of retribution, redemption, and forgiveness were the final season's driving forces. The Vampire Diaries season 7 focused heavily on Damon trying to be a good friend and brother in Elena's absence. It's certainly difficult to imagine how the show's creators could have clung steadfastly to Elena - who was adamant about people not sacrificing themselves for her - losing the two greatest loves of her life without severe audience backlash. And so there was no way in hell I was killing both of them and leaving neither of them with the happy ending. "In that moment, to me, the show ceased to be about a love triangle and became a show about the power of these brothers and their love for each other. Plec felt Dobrev's exit " sealed the romantic contract" between Damon and Elena. Plec hoped to reignite the Elena-Damon-Stefan love triangle, figuring out a way for the bittersweet friendship between Elena and Stefan to evolve into something more. Damon and Stefan would sacrifice themselves for Elena and reside on the Other Side watching Elena live her mortal life, possibly with her childhood sweetheart, Matt Donovan. In an interview with EW, Plec revealed she and Williamson had decided how to end the series during season 2. RELATED: Vampire Diaries: Why Damon & Bonnie Never Dated (Unlike In The Books)
